STORYTELLING & PHOTOGRAPHY

When we think stories, often times we restrict our understanding of the story to a set of events that happened in chronological order. But stories can be much more creative than that, and can really speak for your internal experience!

Visuals are amazing tools for storytelling. As you start to compile archives of photography, you can then go through what you’ve captured and compile photos that have a cohesive aesthetic, color scheme, or emotion.

Find something that is shared amongst photos from completely different locations and times and see what story you can tell.

This set of three images taken on different days in different countries captures the story of my vision; this is how I perceived my surroundings. It also encapsulates my wonder for things I don’t understand that are so large like the moon, or the concept of saints.

Try looking through your camera roll right now and find 3 images that resonate with each other. See what story you feel these images are telling.

You already put in the energy in to capture them which means they already were of importance to you — might as well practice being a storyteller and taking your creativity to the next level!
